FILM AND FOTOGRAPHY

Luis, through his work, invites us to reflect on the transformative power of film and photography. For him, these disciplines are not only tools of expression, but also spaces where narratives of change, resistance and hope are built. His gaze reminds us that the audiovisual has the capacity to question realities, inspire social movements and, above all, offer a window to a more just and humane future.

Luis is a Berlin-based Ecuadorian filmmaker and photographer whose work bridges sociology, visual arts, and cinema. With a background in both disciplines, his documentaries—screened across three continents—interrogate social inequalities, migration, and cultural memory through a lens of intimate storytelling and striking visual poetry. A relentless advocate for marginalized voices, Luis merges artistic innovation with urgent social themes, earning recognition as a rising auteur in contemporary Latin American nonfiction cinema.

Documentary filmmaker, photographer: I am part of a larger community, of a world that often closes its eyes to its own destruction. For me, making documentaries and films is not only a means of expression, but a tool to transform, to say by doing. Through the lens, I seek to make visible what many do not want to see, to denounce what hurts and celebrate what resists.

Each project is an act of commitment, a way of putting the body and art at the service of collective struggles. Documenting is my way of contributing to change, of being an active part of a world that cries out for justice, memory and hope.
