Caminantes / Walkers

THE ROAD

This series of portraits captures not only faces, but the indelible imprint of more than 2,000 kilometers on foot, a journey where every step is an open wound and every look hides a story of resistance. These are images that speak of swollen feet on burning asphalt, of whole nights sleeping outdoors -under the rain, the cold or the biting wind of the roads-, of bodies crammed into cargo trucks or rickety buses that become mobile shelters. There is no romanticism here: to migrate is to walk hungry, to beg for a plate of food in strange towns, to protect children from the inclement sun with nothing more than a worn cap.

These photographs are a testimony of what it means to leave behind a whole life to start from scratch, with empty hands but a heart full of hope. Each face is a map of sacrifices, each look shouts what words cannot say: We walked because we had no other choice. We survived because we refused to disappear.

!Telling histories that inspire change!

Luis, through his work, invites us to reflect on the transformative power of film and photography. For him, these disciplines are not only tools of expression, but also spaces where narratives of change, resistance and hope are built. His gaze reminds us that the audiovisual has the capacity to question realities, inspire social movements and, above all, offer a window to a more just and humane future.
